How long does teeth whitening last?

We offer a range of teeth whitening options at The Town House from at-home whitening to in-surgery whitening and a combination of both. One of the main questions we get from our patients when discussing their teeth whitening journey with us, is how long does professional teeth whitening last?

Similar to any other dental treatments, it varies from person to person and has a range of contributing factors to consider such as your diet and lifestyle. If you look after your teeth by brushing and flossing daily, eating a healthy and blanched diet and don’t consume a lot of coffee and tea then you will see the results of your bright smile for two to three years.

For those who smoke, and drink staining liquids (coffee, red wine etc.) more regularly, will find their results may dull, stain or wear off more quickly. If this is something that affects you, we would recommend adding a straw when drinking staining liquids to minimise the damage.

Can I top up my teeth whitening?

We know it’s difficult to only drink one cup of coffee or tea a day or stop habits that may stain our teeth, so we would recommend topping up your teeth whitening. Most of our teeth whitening treatments we provide at The Town House can be topped up in the comfort of your home. With Zoom home whitening and Enlighten, we provide you with custom trays and a whitening solution which can be used at home to ensure you maintain that bright, white smile

Is it worth getting my teeth whitened?

Teeth whitening offers numerous benefits beyond just enhancing your smile’s appearance. A brighter smile can boost confidence and self-esteem, leaving you feeling more comfortable and assured in social and professional settings. Furthermore, by removing surface stains and discolouration, whitening treatments can help improve oral hygiene habits, encouraging individuals to maintain better dental care practices. Overall, teeth whitening can have a transformative effect on both your appearance and your outlook on life.

What should I avoid to help keep my white teeth?

To ensure your whitening lasts for as long as possible, we would recommend limiting your intake on the following food and drink:

  • Coffee and Tea
  • Carbohydrate drinks
  • Red wine
  • Fruit juices
  • Tomato based sauces
  • Curries
  • Beetroot
  • Red berries
  • Candy and sweets
  • Energy drinks
