1. Porcelain Veneers Don’t Ruin Your Teeth
There is a common misconception that to have veneers, your teeth will have to be filled down to stumps and ruin your teeth, but that isn’t the case. When fitting porcelain veneers we only shave off a small layer of enamel from your tooth so that the veneer can fit flush against the tooth, but this does not compromise or ruin your teeth.
2. Having Veneers isn’t Painful
The treatment for porcelain veneers is minimally-invasive and isn’t painful. Patients may experience slight discomfort during the procedure and tender gums after the treatment if having more than eight veneers, but this can be relieved with over the counter medication.
3. Porcelain Veneers aren’t Permanent
How well you look after your teeth will determine how long your veneers will last, with the proper care your veneers should last around 10-15 years, but they are not a permanent solution and will need to be replaced throughout your lifetime. Caring for porcelain veneers is as simple as looking after your teeth, with regular brushing and flossing and healthy eating.
4. You don’t have to change or adapt your lifestyle
A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain that is bonded onto your tooth’s surface giving your tooth a new look but feels and works as your normal tooth. The veneer changes the shape, colour and size of your teeth but you can still eat your usual food and continue with your normal life without having to wear retainers or braces.
